Andrea Straus is the Executive Director at Hudson Valley Community Services. Ms. Straus has served as the Executive Director of Hudson Valley Community Services (HVCS) since 2015. She leads and oversees the agency’s operations and programs which assist low-income and underinsured people living with chronic illnesses in the seven-county Hudson Valley region. The organization has nearly 100 employees and serves over 3,800 clients annually. She joined HVCS in 2004 as its Deputy Executive Director.
Straus holds a Master’s in Social Work from Hunter College and a Bachelor of Arts from Hamilton (Kirkland) College. She also obtained an Advanced Certificate in Clinical Social Work from New York University. Since 1989 she has worked in the fields of AIDS and health, starting as a case manager in the Infectious Disease Clinic at Bronx Lebanon Hospital. Prior to her tenure at HVCS, Straus served as the Associate Director of the Bureau of Community Support Services within the New York City regional office of the New York State Department of Health’s AIDS Institute. She has a longstanding personal and professional commitment to improving the lives of people experiencing physical and mental illness and to ensuring their access to the full continuum of needed medical and social services. She has been a member of the Board of Directors of HVCC since its inception.
