Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

HVCC is committed to fostering, cultivating and preserving a culture of diversity, equity,  inclusion and accessibility (DEIA). We are dedicated to working together to address systemic barriers for all and promote a culture of diversity, equity, safety, belonging, and mutual respect.

HVCC embraces and encourages our employees’ differences in age, color, disability (visible and invisible), ethnicity, family or marital status, gender identity or expression, language, national origin, physical and mental ability, political affiliation, race, religion, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, veteran status, and other characteristics that make our employees unique.

HVCC’s diversity, equity, inclusion & accessibility initiatives are applicable—but not limited—to our practices on recruitment and selection; compensation and benefits; professional development and training; promotions; transfers; social and recreational programs; layoffs; terminations; and the ongoing development of a work environment built on the premise of gender, disability and diversity equity that encourages and enforces welcoming environments, respectful communication, teamwork and a work/life balance.

HVCC provides an environment where having difficult conversations is nurtured and encouraged. HVCC recognizes that there are distinct demographic groups that have long been disadvantaged, such as First Nations, Black, and People of Colour. We recognize that racism, ageism, ableism, sexism and other forms of discrimination are areas that we need to proactively address.

This statement applies to all network agencies, employees, prospective employees, clients, contractors, vendors and all others who do business with or are in contact with HVCC.
